About Us

Patient-Centered Care:

Your Health Is Our Priority

The healthcare industry has undergone tremendous changes in technology and services since Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital first opened its doors in 1953. What began as a 29-bed facility with 25 employees and only four patients has grown into the Tombigbee Healthcare Authority operating Whitfield Regional Hospital, Member of UAB Health System: a total healthcare delivery system that includes a 99-bed hospital and provides more than 30 healthcare services for our community. This evolution of care has progressed to include the implementation of a hospitalist program in 2018 and most recently to become the first hospital in the state to be part of UAB’s tele-ICU program.

We will continue to grow and adapt to meet our community’s current and future healthcare needs while providing a safe, compassionate environment that is conducive to the healing process.

Letter From Our CEO

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, employees, volunteers and medical staff of Whitfield Regional Hospital, welcome to Whitfield Regional Hospital! Since 1953, our hospital has been committed to providing our community and our region with exceptional healthcare services. Our “100/0” operational philosophy is very simple: It is a cultural expectation that each of our team take on 100% responsibility for themselves and the satisfaction of patients, families and physicians while having have 0% excuses for not giving great service and exceptional quality in every single interaction they have with every single person. This is a lofty goal but one we take serious in our pursuit of exceptional quality, unsurpassed patient safety and world class customer satisfaction.

The most sacred part of our commitment to you is the incredible blessing you bestow on us each time you entrust us with yours or a loved one’s care. We do what we do because we want to make a difference and touch lives. The opportunity to serve you and your family through the difficult times as well as be a part in the joy you feel when health returns is what makes our work so meaningful and enriching. We have a saying here:  “People don’t care what you know until they know how much you care.” My hope is that from the moment you walk in our door you will know how sincerely honored and thankful we are that you have chosen to come to us.

I realize that these are simply words on a screen, but I hope that you will give each one of us the opportunity to deliver on this promise. Let me be the first to illustrate our commitment. I give my cell phone number to each family and patient that comes to our hospital, and I ask that you call me 24 hours a day/7 days per week if we are not meeting your expectations.

Thank you for visiting WRH’s website. This website is dedicated to keeping you informed about our hospital and the services we offer. We invite you to call or visit to discover how our broad range of services can serve your needs.
