“We make a difference in the lives of our patients by delivering professional medical care with a hometown touch.”
Recuperating from major surgery, illness or an accident can be challenging. What if you’re well enough to leave the hospital, but aren’t yet ready to go home? For many patients, the solution is a short visit to WRH Therapy + Sports Medicine. And it’s not just the depth of care that sets us apart. It is how we deliver it. We are dedicated to caring for the whole person – and his or her family – in a way that is individualized and nurturing.
Whitfield Regional Hospital’s Therapy + Sports Medicine Department offers fully-integrated physical, occupational and speech therapy services to meet individualized needs in both our inpatient and outpatient settings. Our team is dedicated to helping patients prevent and overcome injury or disability so they can enjoy a mobile, satisfying life.
Outpatient services are provided Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in the outpatient building. All disciplines are readily available in one convenient location. To schedule a physical, occupational and/or speech therapy appointment, please call (334) 287-2565.
We work closely with your referring physician to provide individualized evaluations to establish an appropriate care plan for you. We take a interdisciplinary approach and collaborate daily with all members of your care team—doctors, nurses and case management—to provide the best possible care. Discharge planning begins on day one to set you up for success upon discharge from the acute care setting.
Swingbed services may be an option for those individuals who have been hospitalized for a minimum of three days (as determined by insurance providers) and may need further care before returning home or to another care facility. Skilled services can include physical, occupational and/or speech therapy; long-term IV antibiotics; or specialized wound care. Our team offers therapy for qualifying individuals at a frequency determined by the individual's needs and plan of care.
